The Julius-Maximilians-UniversitƤt Würzburg is inviting applications for 6 fully funded PhD student positions within the international graduate programme RNAMed ā Future Leaders in RNA-based Medicine, based in Bavaria, Germany.
The programme brings together an international consortium of leading scientists working on RNA modification and delivery, CRISPR-Cas systems, microRNAs, non-coding RNA, RNA biology of infections, and RNA chemistry, with a focus on advancing precision medicine and targeted molecular therapies.
š¬ What You’ll Work On
RNA Biology
Investigate fundamental mechanisms of RNA biology and explore how RNA molecules contribute to cellular processes, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic applications.
RNA Therapeutics & RNA-Based Medicine
Work on innovative approaches for RNA-based medicine, targeted molecular therapies, and precision medicine.
RNA Modification & Delivery
Explore RNA modification and delivery technologies aimed at improving the therapeutic potential and functionality of RNA molecules.
CRISPR-Cas Systems
Investigate CRISPR-Cas systems and their applications in molecular biology, gene regulation, and therapeutic development.
microRNAs & Non-Coding RNA
Study the biological functions and regulatory mechanisms of microRNAs and non-coding RNAs in health and disease.
RNA Biology of Infections
Investigate the role of RNA biology in infectious diseases and explore molecular mechanisms that could contribute to novel therapeutic strategies.
RNA Chemistry
Apply biochemical and chemical approaches to understand RNA structure, modification, function, and interactions.

Applicants should have:
- A Masterās degree with top grades or equivalent qualification.
- Academic background in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Strong motivation to pursue research in RNA-based medicine.

- Commitment to becoming part of the RNAMed graduate programme.
