The Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras is inviting applications for the role of Technical Operator at the Mass Spec Core Facility (BIOSAIF). This is a great opportunity for candidates passionate about cutting-edge analytical techniques, LCMS operations, and supporting advanced research in biotechnology and life sciences.
📍 Position: Technical Operator
- Location: IIT Madras, Chennai
- Qualification: M.Tech / M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or related disciplines
- Experience: Prior exposure to HPLC operation, LCMS, and data analysis preferred
🔬 Roles & Responsibilities:
- Facility Maintenance: Operate, monitor, and maintain the LCMS (Liquid Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry) facility
- Sample Preparation: Handle biological & chemical samples with precision using standard protocols in metabolomics, proteomics, and related studies
- User Support: Guide researchers (internal & external) on facility usage, schedule runs, and maintain proper documentation
- Consumables & Inventory Management: Ensure timely availability of consumables and assist in inventory management for uninterrupted operations
✅ Desired Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail
- Hands-on experience in HPLC, LCMS, and advanced analytical techniques
- Ability to manage documentation, troubleshoot experiments, and support multiple projects
