IISER Kolkata is inviting applications for the position of Lab Assistant under a Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India-funded research project. The project focuses on understanding the role of the Type II MLA system in OMV biogenesis for developing an effective vaccine against Campylobacter jejuni in poultry. This is a temporary, project-based opportunity for candidates interested in biological research and laboratory operations.
🔬 What You’ll Work On
Laboratory & Animal Facility Support
Assist with the maintenance of biology laboratories and experimental animal facilities, including feeding, cleaning, sampling, and routine animal care.
Research Project Documentation
Maintain project-related documentation, purchase records, laboratory inventories, and research data records.
Animal Procurement & Maintenance
Support procurement, maintenance, and handling of experimental animals such as chickens and mice used in research.
Laboratory Operations
Assist researchers with routine laboratory activities and ensure proper organization of laboratory resources.
Administrative Support
Perform basic computing and MS Office-related documentation tasks to support smooth project execution.
🎯 Ideal Candidates
You hold a Graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized institution.
You have at least one year of experience working in a biology laboratory.
Hands-on experience in handling experimental animals (chickens, mice, etc.), laboratory maintenance, sampling, and animal care is highly desirable.
Candidates with basic knowledge of MS Office and computer applications will be preferred.
Applicants should be 40 years of age or below (age relaxation applicable as per Government of India rules).
