The Pezzali Lab at Kansas State University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to lead and contribute to research projects focused on protein and energy requirements and metabolism in domestic cats.
The successful candidate will conduct research using advanced approaches, including indirect calorimetry and stable isotope techniques, while contributing to the development of innovative research methodologies and experimental protocols.
The fellow will become part of the interdisciplinary K-State Pet Food Program, gaining broad exposure to companion animal nutrition, pet food processing, and the wider pet food industry.
🔬 What You’ll Work On
Companion Animal Nutrition & Metabolism
Conduct fundamental and applied research focused on companion animal nutrition and metabolism, with particular emphasis on domestic cats.
The research will investigate nutritional and physiological factors influencing animal health and metabolic outcomes.
Protein & Energy Metabolism in Cats
Study protein and energy requirements and metabolism in domestic cats using advanced research approaches.
The successful candidate will contribute to improving scientific understanding of feline nutritional physiology and metabolism.
Indirect Calorimetry
Apply indirect calorimetry techniques to investigate energy expenditure, metabolic processes, and nutritional requirements in companion animals.
Stable Isotope Techniques
Use stable isotope methodologies to investigate metabolic pathways and better understand protein and energy metabolism.
Feline Feeding Trials
Conduct and coordinate feline feeding trials and contribute to the planning, implementation, and analysis of companion animal nutrition studies.
Research Methodology & Experimental Protocols
Develop and validate research methodologies and experimental protocols to support high-quality and rigorous scientific research.
Laboratory & Statistical Analysis
Conduct laboratory analyses and perform statistical analyses to interpret complex research data and generate meaningful scientific findings.
Pet Food Research & Processing
Gain exposure to:

🎯 Your Role
The selected Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to:
- Lead research projects focused on companion animal nutrition and metabolism.
