The Center for Biomedical and Healthcare Engineering at Mines Saint-Étienne is inviting applications for a fully funded PhD position focused on predicting aortic wall growth and remodeling following Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) implantation. The project aims to develop advanced computational models that improve the understanding of cardiovascular biomechanics and optimize surgical implantation strategies.
🔬 What You’ll Work On
- Develop computational growth and remodeling (G&R) models for the aorta.
- Simulate the mechanical loading induced by LVAD implantation.
- Integrate biomechanics, fluid-structure interaction (FSI), and blood rheology into predictive models.
- Validate computational models using in vivo imaging and histological data.
- Optimize LVAD placement and operating conditions to reduce adverse aortic remodeling.
🎓 You’re a Good Fit If
- You have a background in Mechanics, Biomechanics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
- You are interested in computational modeling and biomedical applications.
- You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
