The Department of Biomechanics and the Center for Cardiovascular Research in Biomechanics (CRiB) at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) are inviting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cardiovascular Biomechanics. The successful candidate will establish an independent, externally funded research program, collaborate with clinicians and researchers, and contribute to teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and graduate levels.
🔬 What You’ll Do
- Develop an internationally recognized research program in cardiovascular biomechanics.
- Serve as a Research Project Leader (RPL) within CRiB during the first year.
- Secure external research funding (NIH, NSF, and other agencies).
- Collaborate with clinicians at neighboring medical centers.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomechanics and related disciplines.
- Supervise graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and research staff.
- Contribute to departmental, university, and professional service.
🎓 You’re a Good Fit If
- You hold (or will hold by the time of appointment) a PhD in Physiology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Your research focuses on cardiovascular disease, biomechanics, biomaterials, vascular biology, cardiovascular devices, tissue biomechanics, or related areas.
- Postdoctoral experience is highly desirable.
- A track record of securing external research funding is an advantage.
