The Bacterial Infections and Treatments Lab at the Andalusian Centre of Developmental Biology (CABD), University of Pablo de Olavide, is inviting applications for a fully funded 3-year PhD position. The research focuses on understanding the intracellular lifestyle of Acinetobacter baumannii, a multidrug-resistant bacterial pathogen, and uncovering how it evades host immune defenses using advanced molecular and cellular biology approaches.
🔬 What You’ll Work On
Host–Pathogen Interaction Research
Investigate how Acinetobacter baumannii survives inside host cells and escapes immune defense mechanisms.
Molecular & Cellular Biology
Apply advanced molecular, biochemical, and cellular biology techniques to study bacterial intracellular trafficking and persistence.
Infectious Disease Research
Explore mechanisms involved in severe bacterial infections and identify potential therapeutic targets.
Collaborative Multidisciplinary Research
Work alongside national and international researchers in a collaborative and multidisciplinary scientific environment.
Advanced Laboratory Techniques
Gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge laboratory methods in microbiology, biotechnology, and cell biology.
🎯 Ideal Candidates
You hold an excellent Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
You possess knowledge or experience in molecular microbiology, cellular biology, or host–pathogen interaction research.
You are highly motivated to pursue research and have excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
