The Kanchan Garai Lab at TIFR Hyderabad is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Associate-I position. The research focuses on understanding liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) of proteins, biomolecular condensates, and their transition into amyloid fibrils using advanced fluorescence-based single-molecule techniques. The project aims to uncover mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders through cutting-edge biophysical and cell biology approaches.
🔬 What You’ll Work On
- Study liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) of proteins in vitro and in living cells.
- Perform fluorescence-based single-molecule experiments.
- Work with super-resolution microscopy, single-molecule FRET, and Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS).
- Use optical tweezers to investigate the viscoelastic properties of biomolecular condensates.
- Explore protein aggregation and amyloid fibril formation associated with neurodegenerative diseases.
🎓 You’re a Good Fit If
- You hold a PhD in Experimental Biophysics, Physics, Biology, or a closely related field.
- Experience with protein expression and purification is desirable.
- Experience in microscopy techniques is an advantage.
- Familiarity with mammalian cell culture is preferred.
- Experience with scientific instrumentation is beneficial.
