The Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is accepting applications for a full-time clinical psychology postdoctoral fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology for the 2027â2028 training year at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
The fellowship provides specialized clinical, research, and interdisciplinary training with children and adolescents aged 0â18 experiencing gastrointestinal conditions and associated behavioral and psychological challenges.
đ§ Clinical Training
The postdoctoral fellow will work with youth experiencing a broad range of pediatric gastrointestinal conditions, including:
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
- Celiac disease
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- Functional abdominal pain
- Other pediatric GI conditions
The fellow will provide evidence-based psychological interventions and participate in interdisciplinary clinical care.
Evidence-Based Interventions
Training and clinical practice may include:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Clinical hypnotherapy
- Behavioral interventions
- Psychological assessment and consultation
đ„ Interdisciplinary Clinical Experience
The fellow will have opportunities to participate in:
- Interdisciplinary pediatric gastroenterology clinics
- Inpatient consultation-liaison services
- Behavioral health assessment
- Clinical interventions for children and adolescents
- Collaboration with pediatric GI physicians and healthcare professionals
The program emphasizes culturally responsive care and provides experience working with patients and families across different clinical settings.
đŹ Research & Scholarly Activities
The fellowship includes opportunities to engage in applied research and scholarly activities related to pediatric gastrointestinal and behavioral health.
Potential areas include:
- Behavioral and mental health screening
- IBD-related psychological distress
- Pediatric-to-adult healthcare transition
- Behavioral health outcomes in pediatric GI populations
