The Sawalha Lab at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying autoimmune and inflammatory diseases using advanced genomic, epigenomic, and single-cell approaches.
The position offers opportunities to conduct interdisciplinary research in functional genomics, epigenomics, cellular immunology, and molecular biology, with a focus on understanding disease mechanisms and identifying potential therapeutic targets.
π¬ What You’ll Work On
Autoimmune & Inflammatory Disease Research
The successful candidate will investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, with research involving conditions such as:
- Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
- BehΓ§et’s disease
- Takayasu arteritis
- Other autoimmune and inflammatory disorders
The research will combine genomic, epigenomic, and cellular immunology approaches to understand disease-driving mechanisms.
𧬠Functional Genomics & Epigenomics
The project will involve functional genomics and epigenomic studies designed to identify molecular pathways contributing to autoimmune disease.
Research activities may include:
- Genomic profiling
- Epigenomic analysis
- Functional genomics
- Gene regulation studies
- Disease-associated molecular pathway analysis
- Identification of potential therapeutic targets
π§ͺ Single-Cell & Cellular Immunology

Candidates with experience in:

- A PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Immunology, or a closely related discipline.
- PhD completion within approximately 1β2 years of the application.

- Experience in molecular and/or cellular biology.
